Once a year Tel Aviv homes open their doors to visitors as part of the Houses from Within exhibition. This year, the public got to see some 140 architecturally interesting institutions, businesses and private residences.
Part of the international Open House project, where cities such as New York, London and Barcelona offer free guided tours of buildings, the Tel Aviv event is one of two in Israel started by architect Alon Bin Nun - the other takes place in the fall in Jerusalem.
One of Bin Nun's favorite stops on the annual tour is the Ben-Gurion residence, where Israel's first prime minister lived - full or part time - from 1931, when the house was finished, to his death in 1973. Also on the tour are six unique short-term rental apartments that Bin Nun designed to address Tel Aviv's hotel room shortage and add variety to Tel Aviv’s urban environment.
